Students from two central Pennsylvania schools gathered at America’s Largest RV Show® for Education and Industry Day, gaining firsthand insight into the recreational vehicle industry.
With career education at the forefront, students from the Reading and Shippensburg Area school districts explored the show to learn more about the wide range of disciplines within the RV industry, including construction, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
While visiting exhibits by well-known companies like Cummins, MORryde, Battle Born Batteries and Dometic, students had the opportunity to speak directly with industry professionals. They asked questions about potential career paths, gaining a better understanding of the skills and education required for various roles.

The group also participated in industry day educational presentations. During the Dexter Axle session, students got hands on with equipment while Bill Snider provided information about RV axles, spring suspensions and electric braking systems. In another seminar, students sat in on an RV electrical refresher.
Students also toured many of the new models on display at America’s Largest RV Show®. From large, class A motorhomes to small travel trailers, students saw and learned about RV classifications. Among the group’s favorite manufacturers were Aliner and Newmar—two brands that are on opposite ends of the size spectrum.
“There are so many career paths available in this industry,” says PRVCA executive director, Heather Leach. “The school tours give students the opportunity to explore, learn and ask questions all in one place… We’re already looking forward to the next one.”
